Associate Principal’s Message

Dear families,

What a brilliant 12 days of Christmas we’ve had so far! Our scholars have been baking tasty treats, making gorgeous decorations, enjoying candy canes, and even dancing to Christmas songs as they come through the doors. The festive spirit is definitely in full swing here at Dearne!

It was lovely to see so many parents and carers at our Mock Results event and Year 11 Parents’ Evening this week. As we head towards the big summer exams (can you believe how quickly time is flying?), we want you to feel confident about the next steps for your Year 11 child. If you need any extra support or advice, just drop us an email at info@astreadearne.org—we’re always here to help. Every young person is part of Team Dearne, and making sure they’re ready for an amazing future is what we’re all about.

A big thank you to everyone who’s completed our Parent and Carer survey. Your feedback really matters to us! Once we’ve gathered all the responses, my leadership team and I will share how we’ll use your ideas to shape what we do next. One thing that’s come through loud and clear already are your views on our  attendance drive. There is a simple reason why attendance matters so much to us: year on year, we see that regular attendance leads to great GCSE results and those great results open doors to incredible opportunities for the young people in our care. That’s why we’re so passionate about getting every child into school every day—it’s the foundation for their future success.

Lunch Menu

A Meal Deal consists of the following:

  • A meal meal and either a pudding or water
  • A sandwich and either a cookie or water
  • A pasta pot and either a cookie or water

Youth Work in Schools

Our Youth Work in Schools team have been working with scholars since September and are really keen to gain some parent feedback. The team run regular lunchtime drop in sessions which include Let’s Talk Tuesdays and Fun Fridays. They offer after school enrichment sessions which have included Christmas Crafts and BCalm Club and in the New Year they will run After Bell Club, New Year New You arts and BCalm club. If your child is interested in any of these activities please encourage them to speak to a member of the Youth Work in Schools team on the street.

Nut free school

A reminder that Astrea Academy Dearne is a nut free zone. We have scholars and members of staff in school who have severe nut allergies. Please do not allow children to bring in any products containing nuts.
