On Wednesday 20th March, all Year 11 scholars will be given their final mock examinations results during session 5. This is an incredibly important day on the lead up to their GCSEs, which begin in May. After school, we would like all parents/carers to attend school for our Revision Evening. The evening will begin at 3.15pm in the lecture theatre. There will be a presentation to all parent/carers and Y11 scholars will complete a carousel of revision techniques. There will be a number of key messages during the evening which will help you support your child as we approach this very important time.

Attendance Update

Over recent weeks, we have realised we have a significant drop in attendance on Fridays. We will be monitoring this closely over the coming weeks. It is vital that scholars attend school every day in order to achieve the best possible outcomes. Over the coming weeks a strategy will be shared to improve Friday attendance at the academy and increasing the number of tickets given on Fridays will be one part of this. Your feedback will also be vital in shaping this plan. Please see here for the link to an attendance questionnaire. Please could this is completed by Friday 15th March.

The attendance prize draws will take place during the final week of this term. The prizes include a widescreen TV, a laptop and a £150 voucher for Amazon, Meadowhall, or a One Voucher, which can be spent in many locations.

Sparx Maths

Once again, our completion rates at Astrea Academy Dearne have increased, so a massive well done to all scholars who have completed 100% of their homework this week.  All year groups have increased their completion rates, apart from Year 7 who remain at 73%.

Please remember the Maths department offers support for homework on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.  These sessions begin straight after school and allow students to have some support when completing homework.

The department is getting ready for our annual UK wide Maths competition in 2 weeks time; updates will follow!

DEADLINE for KS3 is 7am every Wednesday and the deadline for KS4 is 7am every Monday.  Failure to complete by these days results in the SPARX support club.

Year 11 72%
Year 10 71%
Year 9 76%
Year 8 80%
Year 7 73%
