If you have any questions, do not hesitate to get in touch.
Road markings
Zigzag road markings have been added outside the academy. During school drop off and pick up times, you are not permitted to park on these lines. These parking restrictions are there to keep you and your children safe. Parking inconsiderately can put people in danger and you also risk being fined.
Catering costs
Due to the current rate of inflation, we have taken the difficult decision to increase the cost of meals from £2.50 to £2.75. As a trust, we held the current price for 2023/24 to ensure inflation was not passed to families. This increase in price will help us to ensure every Astrea child has access to a hot, fresh, and sustainable meal, for every day they are with us.
Safeguarding
We hope all our families at Astrea Academy Dearne enjoy the Euros final on Sunday night and hopefully see England take the victory! We are always mindful that tensions within families can run higher when England are playing in tournaments. Win or lose the safety of our scholars is paramount. Statistics show that Domestic Violence and the World Cup are closely linked, with reported incidents increasing by 26% if England plays, 38% if England loses and 11% the next day, win or lose.
If you are worried about tension at home during this time there is a wealth of advice and support you can find through IDAS
(Independent domestic abuse support) – Contact us – IDAS
IDAS are a specialist charity with significant experience of supporting and accommodating victims and survivors of domestic abuse.

Sparx Maths
The maths department is really pleased with how our scholars are approaching their homework and we are sure it will lead to improved GCSE grades in the long term. Well done to all scholars who completed their homework.
The department offers support for homework on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays after school so please use them to support you if needed.
The DEADLINE for KS3 homework is 7am every Wednesday and for KS4, the deadline is 7am every Monday. Failure to complete by these days results in the SPARX support club and a detention if this is not attended.

Please note that our school is a nut free zone. We have scholars and members of staff in school who have serious nut allergies. Please do not send scholars into school with any products which may contain nuts.

We use the My Child At School (MCAS) to communicate with our parents and carers. MCAS is the online platform that allows us to share information live with you. It enables families to view live data including a student’s timetable, list of teachers, number of rewards and behaviour points and so on. If you have not yet registered for MCAS and would like some support to do so please contact school reception or you can follow this guide MCAS and Communication – Dearne Academy (astreadearne.org)
