Overview
At Astrea Academy Dearne, we understand that enrichments are a fantastic opportunity for scholars to gain experience and skills in areas not typically part of their everyday curriculum.
Enrichments also offer scholars an opportunity to accelerate their academic achievement. If they have missed a lesson or wish to improve their depth of knowledge, they will have access to a range of staff in each department to support them as they climb the mountain to university!
Who can attend?
Everyone! We want all scholars to benefit from the range of enrichment activities on offer. Enrichments that are open to everyone are a great opportunity to make friends in other year groups. There are some enrichments are targeted at specific year groups, this information is provided in the pdf booklet.
What is available?
Whatever a scholar’s needs or interests, there are multiple activities to get involved with. If there is an enrichment that a scholar would like to take part in that isn’t currently offered, speak to the appropriate Head of Department or Mr Calverley.
Do scholars need to sign up in advance?
No! Although scholars do not need to sign up in advance, it is recommended that they speak to the appropriate teacher before attending.
Occasionally enrichment sessions may need to be cancelled, such as when there is bad weather. Scholars will be made aware of this at the very first opportunity so that they can plan their journey home.
When do enrichments run?
Enrichments run after the academy day from 3:00 until 4:00. There are also several lunch time clubs which run throughout the week.
How much does it cost to attend enrichment activities?
Nothing! All enrichment activities are free to attend.
